About the site:

Bacblog: My blog started on December 18, 2001, and was originally hosted at Blogspot/Blogger (as most blogs start out). It was called "Blog of the Bacteria" back then (because I didn't feel like inventing a creative name). Then it morphed into "Bacblog" and it stuck.
Alhena.net: My domain has been in existence since June, 2002. Alhena (scientific name: Gamma Geminorum) is a star in the Gemini constellation. I've found different interpretations on the meaning of the name -- "The shining one", "Proudly Marching One", but also "hurt, wounded, or afflicted", and "a brand or mark on the right side of the neck of a horse or camel". Strange combination...
